Cilantro-Avocado Crema

A healthier alternative to sour-cream based crema. Avocado and greek yogurt give this recipe a rich and creamy flavor with some added protein; perfect for topping off tacos or dipping fresh veggies in!

Avocado
high in omega-3 fatty acids, potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium and folate
contains anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
Greek Yogurt
high in protein, vitamin B12, and zinc
Cumin
high in iron
aids digestion; may help reduce IBS-related symptoms
contains anti-oxidant properties
Paprika
high in vitamin A, vitamin B6, folate, and vitamin K
contains anti-oxidant and analgesic properties
Chives
high in vitamin K, choline, folate, vitamin A and vitamin C

Prep Time: 10 min
Ingredients:
1 medium-sized avocado, ripened
1/2 cup nonfat plain greek yogurt
1/4 cup cilantro leaves, fresh
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp ground paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Trader Joe's Elote Seasoning (Optional)
1 tsp lemon juice, fresh squeezed
1 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp sea salt
2 Tbsp chives, chopped
Instructions:
Add the greek yogurt, cilantro, and half of the avocado to a blender or bullet.
Pulse for 1-2 minutes or until most of the avocado has a smooth texture.
Add the other half of the avocado along with the cumin, paprika, garlic powder, olive oil, lemon juice, sea salt to the blender / bullet.
Pulse again until fully smooth. *Note: use a spoon to mix in between pulses to help.
Transfer to a bowl, garnish with chives, and serve! *Note: serve chilled.
